The falls drop 268 feet — about a hundred more than Niagara — into a plunge pool the Snoqualmie people consider the birthplace of their world. Salish Lodge sits directly on the lip. There is a free upper viewing platform two minutes from the car park and a steeper trail down to the river.
Volume is at its most dramatic in spring melt and after autumn rain. In late summer it narrows but never stops. Forty minutes each way from downtown makes this the natural half-day, and the one we recommend most often on a cruise turnaround.
