The Alaskan Way Viaduct came down after 2019 and the waterfront underneath it has been rebuilt as promenade, park and pier. The Overlook Walk — a recent addition — connects Pike Place Market directly down to the water without the old stair-and-underpass scramble.
For a cruise passenger this is the highest-value half hour in the city: the aquarium, the Great Wheel, the ferry terminal and the Market are all on one continuous walk.
